Additional Information

Don't miss out on this great opportunity to volunteer in the community. Grab a friend and sign up to help some kids learn and share your knowledge.  A pre-training session is required for first time attendees. See infomation below.  If you have questions please email the website.

Junior Achievement volunteers facilitate JA programs focused on financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship. JA provides all of the hands-on materials, training and support during the event. The teacher remains in the classroom the entire time to help you engage with the students. Get ready for a fun day of learning and empowering young people to own their economic success!

There are 10 classes available at Vernon E. Greer Elementary. If you decide to sponsor all 10 classes you would need a minimum of 10 volunteers and a maximum of 20 volunteers.

The number of classes that you would like to cover is totally up to you. We do recommend two volunteers for each classroom. The partners should be able to spend a few hours together before the event planning how they will facilitate the program. We also require that all first time volunteers attend a JA volunteer training that is usually approximately 1 hour. We are more than happy to conduct this via conference call/WebEx if that is more convenient for your members. I recommend planning the training session on or BEFORE the week of May 1st.

Each volunteer or volunteer pair will receive a JA program kit with all of their materials for the program and logistics details like campus map, bell schedule and class roster. They will need their kits before their training session so we will want to discuss the best way to get those delivered to volunteers.

You may also decide to take a smaller cluster of classes, just let us know what grades you prefer and how many classes that you think you feel comfortable committing to facilitate with your volunteer group. I think that the 4th and 5th grade programs would be a great opportunity for members to discuss how STEM skills are important in the medical or nursing field.

Finally, all volunteers must complete a Volunteer Contact Form and Volunteer Conduct Standards Form and return to programs@jasac.org to be officially matched with a class. They may also complete them online here:
